How To Write A Book In A Weekend
Achieve a major life goal in under two days
81% of Americans want to write their own book. Since we have so much to say and plenty of stories to share, it’s no surprise that this goal resides on many people’s bucket lists.
But most people are intimidated at the thought of writing their own book. They think it will take years to craft a product that is good enough for the marketplace.
Framing The Goal
However, a book isn’t as difficult to write as most people think. Rather than think of your draft as a book, think of it as a word count. If you frame the goal this way, writing a book becomes a more manageable, and more importantly, measurable goal.
For my nonfiction books, I aim for 15,000 to 20,000 words per book.
This range gives me enough length to make an 80–100 page book which is all I want to write. I’ve written lengthier books in the past, but these take longer for readers to finish. This results in a longer amount of time before someone becomes a returning customers, and longer books means it takes me longer to produce additional books that I can sell.
It makes sense for the reader and the author to produce shorter books.
