How To Double Your Writing Output

Without Writing Twice As Long

The most important skill a writer can develop is increasing their writing output. It’s through this skill where you get to master all of the other necessary skills.

Do you want to write with better Grammar? Write more often. Do you want to be more persuasive in your writing or more entertaining? Write more often. Reading other people’s writing also helps.

But if you want to turn writing into your main income or a side hustle, output is the most important factor.

Writing daily articles gives you a better chance at gaining momentum than writing 1 article each week. That’s because every piece you publish is an at-bat. You’ll strike out on some of those at-bats, but you’ll get closer to your next home run.

As you write more content, you’ll get a better idea of what your audience wants. Once you figure out what your audience wants, gaining traction becomes much easier.

But you only get to that point once you’ve significantly increased your writing output.

You can double your writing output by writing twice as long, but we’re all busy. What if we could double our writing output without doubling the amount of time we spend writing. Luckily, there’s a few strategies that will help you achieve that goal.

Stay Focused On Your Writing

I do most of my weekday writing before 9:30am and 4pm eastern. That’s because I buy and sell options and like to check in on my portfolio often. When I write at times the stock market is open, it’s more difficult for me to stay focused on my work.

Write at times of the day when it’s easier for you to stay focused and avoid distractions. This can mean writing at times of the day when everyone else in the household is asleep.

I am most productive early in the morning and late at night. Writing at this timeframes allows me to get in the flow sooner rather than think about something else.

As you write, pay attention to what distractions pop up and work to remove those distractions in the future. I never work with my smartphone nearby and prefer to work in a separate room where I am alone. My Wi-Fi is shut…
